Remove the vent covering the air duct if it is detachable. Review the owner's manual for instructions on removing the vent cover. Some cars require a screwdriver to remove the air vent covers. 2. Clean both sides of the air duct vent with cotton swabs saturated with auto interior protectant. Switch to a new side of the swab each time one end gets covered with dust and grime. Clean vent covers that are not removable as best you can using the swabs and protectant. 3. Cut the hook off the top of a wire hanger with a pair of tin snips. Flatten out the remaining wire into a long, straight piece. 4. Twist one end of the wire coat hanger around the corner of a microfiber cloth.

Crimp the bent wire onto the cloth with a pair of pliers until it is secure. Wrap the length of the microfiber cloth tightly around the end of the wire. 5. Slide the cloth-covered end of the wire into the air duct and twist as you pull it back out.
