It is very efficient in picking up bottom stuff (decayed plant leaves, excess food) & exchange water. It's very easy to start, more than tall enough for 17" tall aquariums. Out of all the tank/aquarium cleaners we have ( including the expensive eheim one) this is, by far, the best one. No batteries, easy to use, and reliable. The only advantage the eheim has is, it is ok to just clean dirt from the tank without removing the water.

But, it is super slow. This siphon pump is a lot faster and stronger. This is much easier to use than the current tube/hose method I was using before. This one requires almost no effort. Just put the hose in a bucket and place the pickup tube in the water. Then a few presses on the pump and it starts flowing. I press the tube down in the gravel and move it around to get more of the dirt out.
