This is one of the most common problems with Toshiba laptops we deal with. Indications of laptop overheating problem: The keyboard and the bottom of your laptop are very hot when the laptop is working. The CPU fans are working all the time at maximum rotation speed and operate much louder than before. The laptop suddenly shuts down by itself without warning. When it just started, the laptop was shutting down after 1-2 hours and how it shuts down after 5-10 minutes of operation. The laptop works fine when it runs idle, but shuts down as soon as you start using any memory demanding applications (DVD player, image editing software, video editing software, etc.). If the CPU heatsink is not clogged with dust and lint completely, you can use canned air and just blow it inside the laptop through the openings on the bottom and on the sides. It’s nice as a precaution measure, but it might not work if your laptop already has a problem and the heatsink is completely clogged.
Open the laptop case, so you can access the CPU fan and the heatsink. In some cases you can access the heatsink through the latch on the bottom of the laptop. Sometimes you have to open the laptop case all the way down. Carefully disconnect the fan cables on the system board and remove the fan. If the fan makes unusual sound when it spins (grinding sound), I would recommend to replace the fan. Clean the fan and the heatsink with compressed air. I would also recommend removing old thermal grease from the CPU and applying new grease for better heat conductivity. UPDATE: I just received a nice tip from MC N’Colorado. I think it could be useful for all of you with guys: I decided to use a shop vac to suck the dust out and it worked. I tested it by letting the machine run all night and it worked. It’s been a couple of weeks now and I’m glad I did it. I was ready to take the machine apart, now I’m glad I didn’t. I’d suggest you use a heavy duty shop vac to clean out the fan and heat sinks first.

Pomysł sam w sobie świetny, gorzej z tym jak postanowiono zniwelować pisk. Otóż SONY postanowiło podkręcić na stałe prędkość wentylatora, przez co ten stale szumi nawet gdy komputer tylko jest włączony. Jest to szczególnie denerwujące w nocy gdy jest cicho wokół.Sam szum da się może jakoś wytrzymać (wystarczy choćby puścić muzykę:P ) ale nie do zaakceptowania jest fakt, ż poza zwiększeniem obrotów, zmieniono ustawienia zasilania procesora tak, że nawet gdy mamy ustawiony plan zasilania na zbalansowany lub oszczędność energii procesor co jakiś czas bez potrzeby "wchodzi" na wyższe mhz (zamiast 926mhz co chwila jest 1200/1400 a nawet 2200), przez co zmniejsza się długość pracy na baterii.U siebie zaobserwowałem, że czas pracy baterii zmniejszył się o około 25%.
Przypomnę tylko, że bateria w Vaio nie trzyma jakoś długo nawet na starym biosie (od 2h 30min do 2h 50 min) więc odejmując te 25% tracimy dość dużo czasu...wchodzimy do BIOSu poprzez kilkukrotne wciśnięcie F2 gdy wyświetla się logo VAIO2. przechodzimy do zakładki Advanced3. Wybierz CPU C3/C6 SUPPORT, naciśnij Enter, wybierz ENABLED i naciśnij Enter.4. przejdź do zakładki EXIT, wybierz SAVE CHANGES i naciśnij Enter.5. wychodzimy z BIOS poprzez wybór opcji EXIT lub klawisz ESC. Po restarcie laptop znowu pracuje cicho a bateria trzyma dłużej.* Z tego co przeczytałem na pewnym forum problem cewek występuje też w sprzęcie innych producentów, ale nie udało mi się znaleźć potwierdzeń tych przypadłości w innych modelach. ** Mój laptop nie piszczy, ale z tego co wiem to poprostu mam farta.... Z tego co piszesz wynikałoby, że nie podkręcili na stałe, a domyślnie wyłączyli stany C3 i C6. na stałe było w sensie, że wiatrak cały czas chodzi na wyższych obrotach...
na cewkę wrzucić kapkę kleju "kropelka" albo super glue i nie ma problemu, a piszczenie cewek to norma mniejsza lub większa na moim sony vaio vgn fw31j takie coś nie chodzi.. a dokładnie nie ma u mnie biosa ;/ tylko jest coś innego. Podobno w tych modelach zamiast biosa coś innego pakowano. Będę musiał dalej wysłuchiwać huraganu jaki mam w kompie pozdro jak nie ma biosu? może po prostu zmienili klawisz dostępu? a ja mam sony vaio serii T i też mnie coś brało na wiecznie chodzący wentylator mimo niskiej temperatury, aż znalazłam coś takiego i rozwiązałam problem :) I hope everyone sees this message… Recently I picked up a Sony Vaio T and was irritated by the fan noise as well, but I found a solution. After you’e downloaded it and set it up, select the Sony Vaio E series fan configuration (it uses the same configuration as the T series). From there, you’ll be able to control the fan speed at your will, or set up an automated profile to control the fan more efficiently.

W moim VPCEB 2S1E to właśnie wystarczyło - wyczyściłem go po 3 latach użytkowania z kurzu i znów jest OK. Ja zainstalowałam AdwCleaner z ich oficjalnej strony i w końcu pomogło :) Ten okropny jazgot ucichł i mogę spokojnie robić notatki na uczelni, polecam.
