It is expensive, but just a part of maintaining your home. we also had the dryer vent cleaned, ours vents to the roof, so its more expensive to clean. while cleaning, they discovered something---part of the vent hose was broken, so hot air was venting into the attic rather than out the roof. No wonder our Ac bills were so high, that attic was like a furnace on top of our home! Not to mention the potential fire hazard from sparks, etc. They recommend having the dryer duct cleaned every 6 months, it is truly worth it. Already our home feels so much nicer, no so muggy, the air felt stale in here before.

Today I didn't wake up with a sinus headache and watery eyes. just the money I will save in allergy medicine will repay what I spent! Also, this house was always so full of dust, now I see why! 5,570 posts, read 10,865,066 times 3,883 posts, read 16,616,610 times 445 posts, read 1,168,270 times 137 posts, read 388,835 times now that you've spent the money there make sure you keep a good filter in the furnace. You don't need to spend 20 bucks on a filter that has the allergens, microbials, etc, etc, etc. I'd steer clear of the flat fiberglass filters. Theur effeciency and dust holding capacity stinks. Not to mention a lot of the smaller particles will get by that. I'd recommend a pleated filter. The type that looks like it has woven fabric on it in an acordian style pattern. Also, I change mine like every 2-3 months. Changing it every month defeats the purpose of that style filter because they get more effecient the longer they are in (up to a certain point that is)
