HP laptop lights up, but screen stays black Laptops power goes on but screen shows nothin [Solved] Toshiba laptop: power works but screen won't turn on. May 17, 2009 at 12:28 PM If the fan spinning when switch on the laptop and no display this can be a problem with the memory. Try removing it putting it back and also if you have 2 memory cards try with one. Try connecting to a external monitor. If it works on a external monitor problem is with the inverter or LCD flex cable. Mar 29, 2010 at 04:58 PM just turn it of and slam it on the floor about 3 times and it will work promise I did that to mines and it worked :D

Apr 10, 2010 at 02:38 PM Hi I have had this computer for almost 6 months. I can log in and when I get on there is nothing except the cursor no desktop. no toolbar...nothing how can I fix this? Dec 12, 2009 at 03:52 PM Chronology of my terrible horrible no good very bad experience with HP dv2000.
clean wood floors bleach 4 months after I purchased it:
ac coil cleaning services 1- Overheat to the degree I can't leave it on my lap.
laptop cooling fan always running 2- The battery died cell after cell until I had no battery at all and need to be hooked up to the power all time.

3- The charger cable got ripped off from the inside. 4- The hard drive got burned making me lose important data. 5- Another hard drive got burned with the same story. 6- The picture started to act funny, maybe because of the VGA is acting up and starting to die slowly. 7- DVD drive laid to rest forever. 8- Finally the VGA died giving me a black screen, and even the BIOS doesn't show up. One year after purchasing the late HP dv2000, I returned to my three years old couple of Laptops "warriors" Dell inspiron that still love me even after I dropped them for a terrible horrible no good very bad HP dv2000. I took a promise on my self to NEVER EVER purchase the following products: Nov 1, 2009 at 06:56 PM The HP DV series laptops and some others have known motherboard issues and if you are lucky and have an affected model they will replace the motherboard free of charge but only HP can tell you if your model is affected by this. If not the laptop board for the DV series runs from 169.00 to 249.00 depending on your model

Aug 16, 2009 at 07:04 PM HP's pop-up window stated that my DV6663US (Vista Ultimate 64) laptop needed a bios update. I foolishly believed them, followed the instructions and installed the update, which destroyed the laptop. The laptop was working, but now nothing works and HP says they aren't responsible because it is out of warranty, but for the price of a new laptop, they will install a new motherboard. WARNING: Do NOT take HP's statements at face value. HP may have needed to destroy my laptop in order to inspire me to buy a new laptop, but it won't be an HP. Apr 19, 2009 at 07:53 PM Okay, HP must have problems with this model, because I am having the same problem! This laptop shouldn't be having problems this soon, this stinks! Nov 18, 2009 at 09:13 AM For DV2000 Laptop please contact HP - they have a recall going on. They will replace the motherboard for free. I told my friend and he got his done. Believe me on this. For HP Touchscreen Laptop TX2110 US or similar, if you laptop isnt booting up and your are out of warranty, please call HP sales and Service, dont mention anything about your broken laptop, by HP extended warranty, will cost about $150.

Wait for few days and then call Tech support and tell them your laptop went bad recently and have it shipped over to them and they will replace the parts for free because now you are covered in extended warranty. The trick is to be able to buy extended warranty. It worked for me ps: I really owed a reply to this forum bcs I was devastated when my laptop broke and now its fixed. If you only have $300 to spend on a laptop, you don't have to settle for a refurbished model or take your chances on eBay, but you will have to make some sacrifices. Case in point: With the HP 2000-2b19wm you get a brand new 15-inch notebook from a reputable retailer, but it's not a very powerful notebook and its feature set is not what you'd call robust. It will handle your basic computing needs but there are better deals to be had. Dell Inspiron 15 (I15RV-6190 BLK) The HP 2000's lid has a glossy Winter Blue finish that looks sharp but can become unsightly if you don't wipe off the fingerprint smudges every now and then.

A large HP logo is embedded under the lid's clear coating, and a smaller logo appears under the lid on the lower bezel of the display. The chassis is the same thickness as the Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5104 (1.4 inches) and like the Dell Inspiron 15 (I15RV-6190 BLK), it weighs 5.1 pounds. View All 8 Photos in Gallery The HP 2000's traditional keyboard uses large black keys but lacks the dedicated number pad found on the above-mentioned Dell Inspiron 15 and Toshiba C855D-S5104. The wrist rest sports the same Winter Blue finish as the lid and holds a moderately sized multi-gesture touchpad and two mouse buttons. The keyboard is responsive and comfortable to use and the touchpad had no trouble responding to swipes, pinching, and other Windows 8 gestures. As with most budget-class laptops the HP 2000 uses a 1,366-by-768 display rather than the more expensive 1,920-by-1,080 panels used on pricier notebooks. It delivers a relatively sharp 720p picture and good color quality but exhibits color shift when viewed from an extreme angle.

A webcam and microphone array is embedded in the upper bezel. The HP 2000 has three USB ports, and all of them are of the older and slower USB 2.0 variety. You do get HDMI and VGA video outputs, in addition to headphone and microphone jacks and a LAN port. By way of comparison, the Dell Inspiron 15 is equipped with two USB 3.0 ports and two USB 2.0 ports as well as an HDMI port. On the left side of the HP 2000's chassis is a 2-in-1 card reader, and there's a tray-loading DVD multi-drive on the right. Wireless b/g/n networking is built in, but Bluetooth 4.0 is not. The 320GB hard drive is small compared with the 500GB drive you get with the Dell Inspiron 15 and Toshiba C855D-S5104. It comes with Windows 8 and apps from eBay, Netflix, iHeart Radio, Kindle, and Skype. Trial versions of Microsoft Office and Norton Internet Security are also onboard, as are a handful of HP apps. The HP 2000 is covered by a standard one-year warranty. The HP 2000 uses a 1.3GHz AMD E-300 APU (accelerated processing unit) and has 4GB of system memory.

Graphics are powered by an integrated AMD Radeon HD6310 chip. As with the Toshiba C855D-S5104, which uses the same configuration, performance was lacking. Its PCMark 7 score of 1,087 was significantly lower than that of the Intel Pentium-powered Dell Inspiron 15 (2,117) and the Core i3-based laptops. It also lagged the Toshiba C855D-S5104 by more than 250 points. Its score of 0.45 on the Cinebench R11.5 CPU test was much slower than the Intel-based laptops and only fractionally better than the AMD-based Toshiba C855D-S5104. As with the Toshiba C855D-S5104, the HP 2000 took more than 24 minutes to complete our Photoshop CS6 tasks. The Dell Inspiron 15 took 9 minutes 4 seconds, and the Intel Core i3-powered Toshiba C875-S7340 did it in 5 minutes 47 seconds. The HP's Handbrake encoding time of 9 minutes 46 seconds was more than 7 minutes slower than the Dell Inspiron 15. Don't look to the HP 2000 to run graphics-intensive games and applications. It managed just 6 fps (frames per second) on our medium quality Alien vs. Predators test and 5 fps on our Heaven DX11 gaming benchmark test (also at medium quality).
