Laminate flooring is popular with home builders because it requires less skill to work with and is faster to install. Homeowners like it because it is generally less expensive than wood flooring. High-gloss laminate flooring is durable and doesn’t need the same maintenance as wood flooring. Laminate flooring is produced by fusing together plastics and resins under high pressure. The flooring planks are formed into four layers: backing, inner core, design layer and protective layer. The plastic appliqué design that sits under the top protective layer includes high-gloss wood, brick or stone tile and many other materials. General Cleaning Sweep the floor daily or vacuum it with the hard floor attachment of the vacuum cleaner. Use the various vacuum cleaner attachments to clean in corners, along baseboards and between the floor boards.

This regularly removes dirt or abrasive material that may scratch the floor. Mop the floor weekly or as needed with a cotton mop that is only slightly dampened with warm water. Clean areas that are visibly dirty by spraying the floor lightly with a mixture of 4 parts water and 1 part vinegar. Mop the dirty area clean and dry it immediately with a soft, absorbent cloth. Heavy Cleaning Move furniture and smaller rugs from the room. Inspect the floor for stains such as crayon, tar, lipstick, shoe polish and ink as well as cigarette burns. Remove the stains by gently scrubbing them with a soft cloth and nail polish remover or denatured alcohol. Dust the floor carefully with a dust mop or vacuum with the hard floor attachment of the vacuum cleaner. Mix a solution of 1/4 cup of vinegar to 1 quart of warm water. Mop the floor in 4-foot-square sections. Wring out a cotton mop so that it is thoroughly damp but not dripping with solution. Wrap a dust mop with an absorbent towel and dry the floor immediately after mopping each 4-foot section.

I never endorse this stuff but, since you said "enhance"- Bruce makes somekind of "stuff" that you can put on the floors to make them shine. I totally agree with the Bruce cleaner. It does a great job and doesn't leave a film. I use it with a microfiber mop. If you have polyurethaned floors you have to remember that you are not cleaning wood just a some what plastic coating. Many times I just use a damp microfiber cloth and/or mop with no cleaner. 890 posts, read 2,141,944 times 1 posts, read 32,677 times Ask your floor guy what sheen of finish he used, Adding an additional coat of the same sheen finish will enhance the shine a slight bit, or you could have him apply a coat of high gloss finish for ultimate reflection. If you are going to damp mop your floors with vinegar and water i would not do it too frequently, maybe once a month as the moisture will start to get under the finish and between the floor boards and cup the floor.
