Vacuum cleaners range in price from less than £50 right up to £500+ for the most expensive robotic models. For most tasks, however, a cleaner in the £100-£200 range is more than sufficient. The best models provide strong suction power, a variety of accessories, relatively large dust capacity and a variety of other useful features. Dyson aimed to change that with the Dyson DC34 Multi Floor – and judging by excellent buyer reviews, the company succeeded. The DC34 is built with a powerful motor providing up to twice the suction of other handheld models (according to Dyson). This increased power comes at the cost of battery life, however, as the DC34 can only run for 6 minutes on full power.
If this isn’t long enough, you can switch to a lower power to increase run time to 15 minutes. Other features include a lithium-ion battery that charges three times faster than other types, root-cyclone technology to reduce suction loss, and a two year guarantee for labour and parts. Reviews of the Dyson DC34 have largely been positive, with the majority of buyers rating it four or five stars on shopping sites at the time of writing. A reviewer writes that the suction is much greater than previous models, although he adds that the batteries seem to have an average life of around 18 months. Another reviewer writes that the DC34 is extremely lightweight and perfect for cleaning stairs. While the Dyson DC34 Multi Floor isn’t perfect, it’s one of the best handheld vacuums in the £100-£200 price range. It provides much stronger suction than most handhelds, although this reduces battery life considerably. If you’re looking for a handheld vacuum that can tackle difficult cleaning jobs, however, then there are few others that can match the DC34.
