I like that it is quick, fast, and reliable. It is easy to enter in the data that I am looking for. The contact credits system is insane. If I want to be able to purchase e-mail addresses, I need to have enough credits to cover every e-mail possible from my search. So if Wal-Mart is in my search and there are 70 e-mail addresses for Wal Mart employees, I need to have 70 credits just to cover those, even though I may later put a cap on it at 2 / 3 per company. This has resulted in me breaking up large lists and taking way more time than necessary to perform a rather simple task. Recommendations to others considering the productIt is a great product. I would challenge Hoovers on the accuracy of the data that they have though. Sure they a have "X" amount of contacts, but how accurate is the information. I always prefer quality over quantity. Challenge them to maintain an accurate database. Leads are a powerful part of what I supply to the sales / marketing team. Hoovers provided e-mail addresses and company information give me a great product to hand over to our sales and marketing efforts.

Occasionally new users have to be trained - perhaps if there was a more helpful user interface or simpler, we wouldn't have to teach new users on basic tasks within the tool. You can look into a company and get company info or if you want to do a mailer, you can set various filters for the research to fall into and export lists into Excel documents to work off of, and ultimately mail. The search criteria was also very easy to use. You wouldn't even necessarily need a lot of training because the tool is very user- friendly.I've found that the information is not always accurate. I worked with a couple of similar databases, and I started to use another more frequently because I was finding that the information that I was getting simply was more accurate. I would usually test the information with company information that I was sure of or compare it to similar products. I think that Hoover's just needs to be more diligent with ensuring the accuracy and integrity of it's data because it is SO important with usage.

Recommendations to others considering the productIf you don't already use a prospecting tool, I think a tool such as Hoovers is necessary to move forward. When testing Hoovers for your specific use, I would definitely run through some real life examples and make sure the data accuracy is up to your standard. Propsecting benefits - absolutely! You can filter by industry codes, number of employees, locations by metro regions or zips, etc... Then you simply export into a spreadsheet. It was great when you had something very specific to look into. We can also do company research. Not every company has a great website, and Hoovers was able to help us figure out the industry a company was in, size, people who work there, etc... We could not get a free trial even though it was advertised, and then cannot get out of the subscription after discovering that the data they have on companies is old, wrong, or simply not relevant.

It was really easy to get someone on the phone when you subscription about to end.

They called and hassle you to sign up again. After you sign up, it is impossible to get someone on the phone again or hear an other email from them. The data is very outdated and not even correct. They have contacts that used to be at the company about 15 years ago. Close to 40 percents of the contacts are outdated and even the company profile are incorrect. Some of the big companies are still there, but a lot of the companies went out of business in the last 10 years, but they are still on there. The revenue and address look good, but when you look them up again, the information are outdated. The SIC code looks good to work with, but about 1 out of 4 company are outdated or no longer in business. I have no trust in Hoovers to provide reliable information. I would never use their service again. Recommendations to others considering the productBetter look elsewhere. Trying to get more leads and more companies within a particular industry, but after downloading and reaching out to these companies, they are not correct.
