Birds love to find little tight places to build a nest and I've seen it a few times now, they end up in the dryer vent. This one was totally blocked off and took sometime to get cleaned out. best vacuum cleaners cylinderThere is no guarantee that a net is not in your vent, but there is a preventative step a home owner or renter can do. I want to say Thank You to all my customers for helping me grow a business that I am very Thankful and Blessed to be doing. Also the individuals I've met in business groups, my friends and family for the support as I run this path of owning a business. I really enjoy what I do, helping people breath safer air and live healthier lives is a wonderful job to be doing.
I look ahead at 2017 with excitement and confidence from the foundation formed from business (my customers) in 2016. Mallard Air Duct CleaningThis house is a rental and the owners were asked by the new renters (before they moved in) to have the air duct system cleaned. I could tell the previous renters had pets because of the pet hair that had collected in the duct system. That hair also collects dust and here is a typical view of what I see. Posted by Mallard Air Duct CleaningHere is a great video showing the negative air pressure that is put on the system using a 5200 cfm gas powered vacuum that is located outside. By putting the system under negative pressure the possibility of cross contamination (the dust coming out of the duct work and into the house) is greatly reduced. This duct work is on the return side, so the air passing through this is on its way to getting heated or cooled (A/C) and then pushed through the supply side of the system and exiting in bathrooms, bedroom, living rooms, the kitchen and everywhere a supply vent is located.
TIP: When the furnace is running the filter is the only defence keeping THIS dust from getting pushed out into the rest of the house. Change those furnace filters and breath BETTER AIR!!!Posted by Mallard Air Duct Cleaning added 2 new photos.Saving one dryer at a time!!! After an air duct cleaning in a house I always clean out the dryer vent line as part of the service. This week I found a dryer line that was horrible. Before cleaning I check to see how the air flow is on the outside of the line, on this one I couldn't tell it was running. Lines this bad are a fire hazard and really hard on your dryer. Well worth the money to get it cleaned and have peace of mind. Check the video below to see how bad it was.Mallard Air Duct CleaningHere is the video of cleaning out the dryer vent line I posted pictures of above. This is less than a minute of what took 45 minutes to clean. These photos are all from a house that was brand new, the owners had not even moved in yet. The white powder is from finishing off the dry wall and the other "stuff" is building saw dust from constructing the house. I show this because even a brand new house can and most likely w...ill have contaminates in the system. The result of not cleaning the system after being build will be dust constantly coming out the vents every time the hvac system is turned on, from the air conditioner to the heater. A common comment I hear from brand new home owners is "the day after I dust there is more dust on the table tops and it's a new house!". If your curious what your systems looks like, give me a call, as always I do free inspections with photos and there is never an obligation to have me clean it. Thanks for reading Mallard Air Duct Cleaning added 3 new photos.Hey, I wanted to share some photos of a house last week that I cleaned the air duct system and also the dryer vent line. I always include a free dryer vent line clean out with a air duct cleaning.
These photos show the dryer vent line had come loose from the back of the dryer, allowing air and lint to escape the vent line and build up behind the dryer inside the house. (A side note on dryers and lint build up) Not all dryers are the same in there design to trap lint in the s...creen that the user can pull out and clean regularly. Keeping that screen cleaned on a regular basis will help keep lint from exiting out the vent line and gradually building up on the inside of the vent line resulting in a clog. Ok, back to the photos... with a new flexible vent tube and after cleaning the vent line the dryer was connected tighter and now venting properly. The new owners just bought the house and wanted them cleaned, and they were very happy they did after I showed them the photos of what was in the duct system.
The pictures show old building material (and dust) that was left in the system from when it was built.Mallard Air Duct Cleaning added 5 new photos. If you have pets or are allergic to pets please read... Last week I cleaned the air duct system of a house that the previous owners had some pets. The photos here are of the fresh air return lines (which pulls the air down to the furnace to either heat or cool it, then the furnace fan transfers it through the supply ducts to various parts of the house). I pulled out as much hair as I could reach before I started to clean, and after the cleaning (the photo with my flash light) I had another pile of hair that was deeper in the system. The purpose of this is to show that if you have pets there is a good possibility that hair has collected in the system and is starting to build up. Call us for a free inspection. I found that this part of the house maintenance gets overlooked, and as time passes by the filter gets overwhelmed.
Dirty filters cause the furnace to work harder, wearing it out prematurely and allows dust to get around and passed through the entire system and back up onto the table tops. I tell my customers its like sucking through a straw then covering up part of it... makes it harder to pull air through. The same thought is with a dirty filter on the houses HVAC system. Most filters bought from local stores are one, and up to three month filters. As always I do free inspections of the air ducts and dryer vent lines. So if your furnace is hard to get to, let me know and I'll check your filter for you. After getting up on the roof I quickly saw that the vent line was clogged, but after cleaning the cap on the roof I could feel that there was a gap in the connection. Once I was up in the attic I saw that the previous installer of the vent pipe didn't cut it at the angle of the roof, so part of the pipe was open, contributing to poor ventilation and after some use... led to cloggin...g the pipe.
